Paraguay is situated in the heart of South America and is a land-locked country having as neighbouring country Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia. Due to its low taxes, it is also known as the "Switzerland of South America". Just from the short drive into the capital city of Asunción from the airport, the visitor can admire and experience the pureness of South America. The impact one receives when arriving is so strong that it will surely leave you speechless. A never-ending caravan of cars crowd the roads, accompanied by constant horn blowing, make their way into the city. And peddling their handicraft wares can be seen the Maka Indians amongst the pedestrians, no to mention newspaper sellers, street vendors with their faked brand watches, sun glasses, money exchangers whilst on the sidewalks you will see spread out carpets and cheap tools from Korea and lots more. The streets are utilised as depots, apart of the smells, the noises, the blue sky and high temperature, it's like being in another world. But even greater is the contrast when travelling into the interior. No sooner have you left the capital and the further you travel, the noise diminishes and the silence intensifies. On many occasions you can travel many kilometres and will only see a few hut-like houses and an odd cow or two taking their time in crossing the highway. Everywhere you go you'll be able to admire the abundance of palm trees, the great green spaces broken by running streams or rivers and red clay covered roads. When taking a break in any town or village of the interior you will be immediately surrounded by curious children whilst the grown ups, very amiable, will offer their services should you have any problem, and at the same time will endeavour in making your stay as pleasant as possible. Generally the Paraguayan is affable with foreigners, courteous, helpful, hospitable, whilst the Paraguayan women are amongst the prettiest in the world. The word freedom still has a lot of meaning here, and as long as the actions are undertaken according to the legal Law of the land, one can do about anything within its framework. To open a business one does not need a certificate, nor a test, taxes and family subsistence revenues are still very low, and in order to build a house there are no limits regarding ones fantasies. Besides, the sub-tropical climate is very pleasant and one can adapt to it quite easily. These are probably some of the reasons why Paraguay is a country chosen by many to which to emigrate, and a better reason in order to get to know our beloved country. Return to your homes, but happier and more content, this will help Paraguay to remain unforgettable.
