The tour brings us to the most important touristic attractions in the closer surrounding of Asunción. Duration 8 hours, distance approx. 220 km. Approximate time and distances results as a consequence of the possibility that on this tour, as well as with all offered tours, a modification of the route can be agreed to according to your special interests and hobbies.

On this tour of a whole day we will visit the mayor towns around the capital. Over Fernando de la Mora - Villa Elisa - Nemby - Ypané. It passes through Itá, a little town devoted to handmade pottery, made of black clay in the most primitive way, at Yaguarón (founded in 1539), of the Franciscan Fathers Mission and the church, its marvelous carvings and paintings made by the indians in hard wood. The cordilleran sights with its crystalline brooks of Paraguari and Piribebuy.
Piribebuy, thhe small city has about 6.000 inhabitants and was founded in 1528. The city was the scene of terrible battles during the Triple Alliance War. A must to visit is the museum Pedro Pablo Caballero, which has seven sections of war trophies and historic objects. Round Piribebuy sugar-cane is cultivated and sugar factories are processing the juice into spirit called "Caņa Paraguaya". The city is widely known for its production of the "encaje yú" (embroidery) and the manufacturing of the famous Poncho with its 60 stripes, called "paraí", which has become famous due to Marshall Francisco Solano López having worn one.

Tobati, founded in 1539. The construction material used
in Paraguay comes from Tobati.
In nearly every side-road are brick-works and ceramics (production of ceramic material for constructions).
The most famous wood-carvers in Paraguay are Zenón Páez and Ramón
Ayala, both being from Tobati.
Caacupé is the religious capital of Paraguay,
founded in 1770 and capital of the Cordillera department. The centre is dominated by the
Cathedral called "Nuestra Seņora de los Milagros" (The Virgin of Caacupe), ordained by
Bishop Johannes Paul II in May 1988. Each December 8, hundreds of pilgrims come from all
South America to visit the Lady of Miracles. During the festivities the whole city is occupied
with pilgrims. During the night they are sleeping on the side-walks.
San Bernardino, old German colony,
is now the summer resort of Asunción families, as is located on the Ypacarai Lake,
good for nautical sports.
Itauguá, is famous for hand made Ņanduti",
which means spiderweb in the Guarani language.

Areguá is the capital of the Central Department and is situated vis-à-vis of San Bernardino on the Ypacarai Lake. In years past, Areguá was the summer city of the traditional families from Asunción, which is still visible because of the manor type of architecture. Areguá is famous for its ceramic articles, and it has become the number one strawberry cultivating area in Paraguay.
San Lorenzo is the city of the universities, the church in the new-gothic style, and is very conspicuous. The "Guido Boggiani" Museum, and there are shown beautiful carved works and many more things of the Chaco-Indians. Souvenirs can be bought.
